ICCP is an abbreviation for International Conformity Certification. The plan applies to all consumer products exported to Saudi Arabia, or produced locally. The program provides Saudi Arabian consumers with security in the use of their products. The two basic elements of this plan are:

1) All required products must meet Saudi Arabia technical regulations or relevant international standards;

2) ICCP certificate (COC) must be held along with each shipment of the required products

All consumer products exported to Saudi Arabia (that can be used by adults and children in homes, offices or other leisure places) are designated as regulated products. For example: household appliances, kitchen power tools, perfumes, cosmetics, jewelry, etc. All motor vehicles and their accessories, all construction materials, including coatings and paints, etc. The current ICCP involves five categories of 66 products, the first category: toys, second category : Electrical and electronic products Category 3: Automotive products Category 4: Chemical products Category 5: Other products (a total of 10 product ranges) The following products are not consumer products: medical instruments; medical products; food; military products.

In March 2005, the Saudi Bureau of Standards formulated a new certification procedure: exporters or manufacturers need to apply for pre-shipment inspection and pre-shipment testing before the first shipment. certificate. From the second shipment, you only need to apply for pre-shipment inspection and obtain a CoC certificate with the valid test report.

Are there any EMC requirements for applying SASO?

     As of October 1, 2003, EMC requirements are mandatory. SASO certification does not require a factory inspection. Applicants must apply to the local RLC agency for product shipment inspection three days before shipment.

Several types of SASO / ICCP certification

If it is in compliance with the ICCP certification program, there are three forms:

1) Compliance Verification: Applicable to exporters and suppliers who do not export frequently. Apply for pre-shipment inspection (PSI) and pre-shipment test (PST) before each shipment.

2) Registration and pre-shipment inspection: The manufacturer or exporter declares and confirms that the required products comply with Saudi technical regulations (usually these regulations take into account local climate / geographic environment and other factors), provide product inspection reports, and apply for registration certificate. The registration certificate is still valid after the first year, but it should be regularly reviewed to ensure that the product still meets the relevant requirements. Registered products are also subject to routine pre-shipment inspection (PSI) before shipment.

3) Type certification: To obtain the type certification certificate, the manufacturer must submit samples, technical data to a qualified laboratory for testing, the product must fully comply with Saudi Arabian regulations, and the factory's quality control system must be regularly inspected (at least once a year) ). The type certification procedure strictly follows ISO / IEC Guide 28 (the basic rules for third-party type certification systems for products). It is not used for pre-shipment inspection before each shipment.
